Dishwasher Transformation

We’ve been hesitant to replace our unattractive 18″ dishwasher because it works perfectly. It was my wife’s idea to make it work with a quick makeover.

First we took the panels apart. Starting with the plastic control panel and trim, we cleaned with degreaser and sprayed with Rust-Oleum Universal Matte Metallic in Gunmetal Gray. (More info here.)

For the flat, metal face panels, we used EZ Faux Decor Brushed Stainless Steel Nickel Self Adhesive. (More info here.)

The instructions advise spraying the surface with white vinegar (what can’t white vinegar do?) first. That allows for re-positioning but also makes it more difficult to get sharply-tailored corners. I would advise using the vinegar sparingly and only over large surfaces.

Can you believe the fantastic results? We’re still amazed that our ugly-duckling dishwasher was transformed into this sleek, stylish gem.
